Fruits contain vitamin C (orange, lime) pair really well with watermelon juice. It further adds acidic note to it and enhances the flavor and nutritional values. I also recommend to add fresh mint if available in your pantry. It makes the juice cooler and gives a pleasant flavor. Black pepper can also be added to juice to add a touch of heat.

How to pick a ripe Watermelon?

  • Watermelon should feel heavy for its size – Assure juiciness.
  • Watermelon with white field spot/mark should be avoided as it may be an indication of insufficient ripening. Always look for yellowish field mark – Assure ripe watermelon
  • Rest of the skin except field mark area should be little dull. It means that the melon is now ready for consumption.
  • Most essential, pay attention to the sound made when you tap the melon with your palm. Ripeness is indicated by a deeper tone. Conversely, a hollower or flat sound could be a sign of overripe watermelon.
  • Look for watermelons with uniform shapes that are hard to scratch. Melon may be overripe if it is simple to scratch.

How to cut and deseed Watermelon?

Step 1: Watermelon should be rinsed under running water and then dried with a towel.

Step 2: Cut the watermelon into half, equally.

Step 3: Once more, cut each piece into four quarters.

Step 4: Knife-scoop the seeds out. (be mindful of your hands). Remove any section that has seeds.

Step 5: After being scooped out, deseed the wedges.

Step 6: Slice the watermelon’s pink flesh away from the rind.

How to make Watermelon Juice?

Step 1: Pick a ripe watermelon; I wasn’t able to find a wonderful one for juicing, but I urge you to try this method. (Please refer how to pick a ripe watermelon).

Step 2: Cut the watermelon into chunks / cubes. Add cubes to blender.

Step 3: Add 8–10 fresh mint leaves, 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice, and a pinch of optional sugar to it.

Step 4: Blend the watermelon chunks until smooth.

Step 5: Strain the juice to remove any pulp waste or seeds.

Step 6: Pour the watermelon juice in a glass/cup/tumbler. Now sprinkle chaat masala on top of it and add little salt to taste. You may optionally add ice cubes before serving. I used ice cubes as I serve this juice chilled.
